The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Frustration About Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Changes
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
