The Baldur's Gate 3 Creators Unveil a Fresh Divinity, Declaring it Their Most Ambitious RPG Ever

The buzz surrounding this year's gaming ceremony has been intense, notably after presenter Geoff Keighley shared a mysterious photo of a strange statue. The question has now been solved. Larian Studios is developing a completely new Divinity game.

Revealed to be Divinity, the game was presented with a daring trailer featuring memorable imagery, from a burning man to an orgy and the very unleashing of hell.

A Different Direction

For those expecting Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. Larian clarified that a direct sequel to its beloved RPGs is not being worked on now.

Nevertheless, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a continuation of the core franchise. This phrasing hints that the team might be building a faster-paced experience as opposed to another tactical title. At this moment, it remains theory, as only a cinematic trailer is available.

What Makes Divinity Special

The Divinity series is widely praised and many say it kicked off the modern wave of deep computer role-playing games. These games are known for detailed worlds, branching plots, and flexible progression—traits that later reached new heights in games like Baldur's Gate 3.

While its world is traditional swords and sorcery, what really distinguishes Divinity apart is the immense freedom given to the player.

In contrast to modern RPGs have streamlined options, Divinity is packed with specialized paths only possible if you're playing as a particular class or origin with a unique decision path.

The series is also wonderfully permissive, enabling players to improvise both in story and combat. Virtually all objectives can be approached in diverse methods, frequently in lateral fashion.

  • You might find an answer because you remembered something an animal companion shared.
  • Or, you could bypass a challenge by moving environmental hazards in a clever way.

The Journey Continues

It is precisely these elements that allow people to hail games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as among the greatest role-playing games ever made. Now, players can get ready for another adventure in this legendary franchise.
